Dirt Roads

What's mainly wrong with society today is that too many Dirt Roads have been paved.
There's not a problem in America today, crime, drugs, education, divorce, delinquency that wouldn't be remedied, if we just had more Dirt Roads, because Dirt Roads give character.

People that live at the end of Dirt Roads learn early on that life is a bumpy ride.
That it can jar you right down to your teeth sometimes, but it's worth it, if at the end is home...a loving spouse, happy kids and a dog.

We wouldn't have near the trouble with our educational system if our kids got their exercise walking a Dirt Road with other kids, from whom they learn how to get along.
There was less crime in our streets before they were paved.

Criminals didn't walk two dusty miles to rob or rape, if they knew they'd be welcomed by 5 barking dogs and a double barrel shotgun.
And there were no drive by shootings.
Our values were better when our roads were worse!

People did not worship their cars more than their kids, and motorists were more courteous, they didn't tailgate by riding the bumper or the guy in front would choke you with dust & bust your windshield with rocks.
Dirt Roads taught patience.

Dirt Roads were environmentally friendly, you didn't hop in your car for a quart of milk you walked to the barn for your milk.
For your mail, you walked to the mail box.

What if it rained and the Dirt Road got washed out? That was the best part, then you stayed home and had some family time, roasted marshmallows and popped popcorn and pony rode on Daddy's shoulders and learned how to make prettier quilts than anybody.
At the end of Dirt Roads, you soon learned that bad words tasted like soap.

Most paved roads lead to trouble, Dirt Roads more likely lead to a fishing creek or a swimming hole.
At the end of a Dirt Road, the only time we even locked our car was in August, because if we didn't some neighbor would fill it with too much zucchini.

At the end of a Dirt Road, there was always extra springtime income, from when city dudes would get stuck, you'd have to hitch up a team and pull them out.
Usually you got a dollar...always you got a new friend...at the end of a Dirt Road!

Hi Everyone! I'm getting my weekly post in under the wire here! My whole family is experiencing the dreaded "bug" right now and to top it off, it's our little guy's 6th birthday today! So, between playing nursemaid, I've been trying to focus on his special day!

I really have been sooooooo bad with my listings lately. I've been so busy with home repairs and reorganizing as well as working on some custom orders, that I just haven't had the time to finish anything up. I guess I should look on the bright side and think of how far ahead I'll be next Christmas and St. Valentine's Day!!! LOL...

But, I have been working on a new line of blog/web toppers which I will also be incorporating into my auction template designs. The above banner is a sneek peek of one I just finished with a sewing theme.

These will all be available on my website: Linda*Pinda*Designs as well as in my Ebay Store: Linda*Pinda's*Ebay

I pray you all have a blessed week.
:~)
Hugs... Linda*

I have completed several journals to go with my jars....journaling has been such a good thing for me....I hope everyone will consider it....a great way to relieve stress...God has really worked in my life through the experience.....writing down hard times, struggles have brought up in myself emotions I thought I had worked out years ago..I now realize I had just pushed them into a hidden place...trying to keep a "stiff upper lip"...my family is like that...keeping our emotions contained and as time goes by forgotten until something triggers and the floodgates open...
Getting all the emotions out is a good thing and spiritually cleansing....writing down our thoughts and experiences really, really helps.
Whether you purchase one of my jars or journals (or both!) or not, please consider
journaling....
You can find my journal jars and journals in the China Lake Shoppe.

God Is Already There!

Photobucket

These are such troubling times for so many! Some of my dearest friends have husbands who have lost their jobs and can't find work Others have lost benefits, insurance, etc. Some have lost their homes. Sometimes, we want to question God and wonder if He even sees or if He is there. Believe me, God knows where you are and He is there with you, every steip of the way. He knows all about your tomorrows and will lead you through them, too.

This stitchery was done on an old vintage doily that had been hand embroidered. It also has a hand crocheted edging. Just wonderful! I stitched the saying in a child like, primitive style, stained the doily, and mounted it on a backing and framed it.

A perfect reminder for anyone who tends to worry about what tomorrow might hold for them.

These stitcheries are available in my Ebay Store. Please take a look!

What's in YOUR Pocket??

Hey ya'll.

The Lord has really been working overtime for me so far this year. Praise God!! I've had some special orders in the Ebay store (thank you Lord) and my mind (or what's left of it) has been goin' and goin'. I've come up with some new little ideas for pockets. Take a look. These are in my "Door Greeters" section of my store.

And, oh yeah. Most important of all.....remember....

"Stand your ground, be strong and believe in the Lord. He will carry you when you can not walk."

It's been a busy week of revamping sites, filling orders and trying to keep up with all of our New Year's Resolutions of de-cluttering our home! I haven't had much of a chance to list any new items, but I have been shopping... LOL! Lately, I haven't been too inspired to come up with any new prims on my own, so it's been my mission to help out as many of my prim sisters as possible by purchasing their patterns!!! There are just so many talented gals out there it's unbelievable. Now, I just need to find some time to sit down and get to work!!!

In the meantime, all of my Linda*Pinda*Designs primitive graphics are available by visiting my Ebay Store or my Website which are both linked on this blog. Not only do I have auction templates and web banners, but lots of other goodies, such as the prim artisan certificate shown above.

Until next week, I pray that all of our "Glad Tidings" friends are happy and healthy and basking in the love of the Lord...

Prim Blessings... *Linda*

God heals the brokenhearted and sets prisoners free.....if you are sad today, and broken hearted, consider this.....

JESUS IS: Lord God Almighty, Omnipotent King, Lion of Judah, Rock of Ages, Prince of Peace, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Provider, Protector, Paternal Leader, Ruling Lord and Reigning King of all the universe.

He is the First and Last, the Beginning and the End. He is the keeper of Creation and the Creator of all He keeps.

The Architect of the universe and the Manager of all times. He always was, is, and will be: Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone.

He was bruised and brought healing. He was pierced and eased pain. He was persecuted and brought freedom.
He was dead and brought life. He is risen and brings power.
He reigns and brings Peace. The world can't understand Him, the armies can't defeat Him, the schools can't explain Him, and the leaders can't ignore Him.

Herod couldn't kill Him, the Pharisees couldn't confuse Him, the people couldn't hold Him!
Nero couldn't crush Him. Hitler couldn't silence Him, the New Age can't replace Him and Ted Turner can't explain Him away!
He is light, love, longevity, and Lord. He is goodness, kindness, gentleness, and God. He is Holy, Righteous, mighty, powerful, and pure.
His ways are right, His Word is eternal, His will is unchanging, and His mind is on me!

His is my redeemer, He is my Savior, He is my guide, He is my peace, He is my Joy, He is my comfort, He is my Lord and He rules my life.
I serve Him because His bond is love, His burden is light, and His goal for me is abundant life.

I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise, the power of the powerful, the ancient of days, the ruler of rulers, the leader of leaders, the overseer of the over-comers, and the sovereign Lord of all that was, is and is to come.

And if that seems impressive to you, try this for size. His goal is a relationship with ME! He will never leave me, forsake me, mislead me, forget me, overlook me, and never cancel my appointment in His appointment book!
When I fall, He lifts me up. When I fail, He forgives me.
When I am weak, He is strong.
When I am lost, He is The Way.
When I am afraid, He is my courage.
When I stumble, He steadies me.
When I am hurt, He heals me.
When I am broken, He mends me.
When I am blind, He leads me.
When I am hungry, He feeds me.
When I face trials, He is with me.
When I face persecution, He stills me.
When I face problems, He comforts me.
When I face loss, He provides for me.
When I face Death, He carries me Home!

He is everything for everybody, everywhere, every time, and in every way. He is God, He is faithful, I am His, and He is mine. My Father in Heaven can whip the father of this world, and so, if you're wondering why I feel so secure, understand this: He said it, and that settles it. God is in control, I am on His side, and that means all is well with my soul.

Pieces of The Heart

When I saw the pattern posted below, I just couldn't help but think of how many broken, hurting hearts are out there tonight! We ask God why we have to suffer and walk through these hard times, and in the present, we see nothing beneficial to what we are going through. I just want you to know, my friend, that the Lord will heal your broken heart . . . . in time. . . .and if you let Him, He will use it for His glory. If you are hurting tonight, I wrote this for you:

Pieces of The Heart

It isn't the fancy, pretty heart
God uses --
It's not the one kept tucked away,
Protected from the hurts
And dirt and bruises of the world.
How can a person give away
A piece of a heart
That is still whole?
How can they know how to mend
And stitch the patches
If they themselves
Know not the pain
Of being ripped apart?
Somehow, somewhere,
Deep within the broken, mended heart,
God keeps a little drawer
Full of extra patches, threads, and needles,
And they know,
As no unbroken heart can know,
How to give the pieces of their heart
And patch and stitch and mend
The heart of a broken friend.

Free Pattern from Country Patches!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, but there is still time for you to complete this stitchery for that special someone in your life.

This would look wonderful stitched as redwork, all with red floss! Or, choose your own custom colors.

Click on the picture, a printable copy will come up on your screen, and then you can adjust the size to suit whatever it is you would like to make. Personally, I think it looks great in an 8x10 or 11x14 size! Have fun!

A Prayer for Ya'll

A friend emailed me this prayer. Thought I would pass it along to ya'll :)

Dear Lord, I thank You for this day, I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.
I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this Day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over.

And give the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits.
I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak... Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that will delete this without sharing it with others I pray for those that don't believe.

But I thank you that I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met. I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.
I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees it in Jesus name.

Amen!

Memory Jars by Dani

For the new year, I am resolved to begin journaling again. To inspire me, I am using a wonderful "Remember When ..." memory jar from our very own Dani at her China Lake Shop. Inside this yummy smelling jar are 100 questions to inspire my writings. I am SO excited about beginning. I also plan to ask my mom and mil these questions and record their answers. What a wonderful gift to my children to have my memories and those of their grandmothers written down and preserved for always! Thanks, Dani! I love it!

Dani has lots of other wonderful jars as well~ some prim & some vintage. You can check out her shop by just clicking on the photo of my memory jar.

Blessings,

New Year's Advice from an Old Lady!

I guess I'm the old lady in the group, made all the mistakes that could be made, walked all the wrong pathways, and broke all the rules and paid dearly for it. I've learned a lot the hard way, flunked out of the school of hard knocks. But some things I have learned, become wise to, and want to pass on some wisdom for the new year. I don't take credit for this list, but I sure wish I had followed it in my early years! Boy did I waste a lot of time, energy, and emotions back then. . . . .

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day, smiling while you walk. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to!

3.. Feed the birds! They always say thank you and love what you have to give!

4. When you wake up in the morning, complete the following statement: My purpose is to___________ today.

5. Live with the 3 E's: Energy, Enthusiasm, Empathy.

6. Watch more movies, play more games, and read more books.

7. Make time to pray. You won't FIND time. It will make all the difference in your daily life!

8. Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

9. Dream more while you are awake.

10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less foods that are manufactured in plants.

11. Drink plenty of water and eat what's good for you. It's too hard to get rid of it when you are older!

12. Try to make at least 3 people smile each day.

13. Clear your clutter from your house, your car, your desk. If you don't use it, pass it on!

14. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, issues of the past, negative thoughts, or things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive present moment.

15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class, but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

17. Smile and laugh more.

18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

20. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

21. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

22. Make peace with your past so it won't mess up the present.

23. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

24. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, and wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years will this matter?" "In five months will this matter?" "In five days will this matter?"

27. Forgive everyone everything.

28. What other people think of you is none of your business.

29. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

32. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful, or joyful.

33. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

34. The best is yet to come.

35. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.

36. Do the right thing.

37. Call your mother and father often.

38. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished____________.

39. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

40. Enjoy the ride. Remember that life is not a trip to Disney World with a free pass!!

Safe With Angels!

Whenever a New Year rolls around, we tend to look back, remember the past year, and years gone by, and wonder where all the time went. Sometimes, we have good memories, longing for days gone by. But other times, we feel the tears of loneliness or disappointment because we have lost someone dear to us, or things just didn't happen as we had hoped for. Isn't it wonderful to know that God has promised to walk with us through every year of our lives, no matter how good, bad, disappointing, or hurtful they may be. I like to think that God carefully catches each and every tear that falls from our eyes, stores them in a bottle, labels each bottle for that particular year, and keeps them safe on a shelf in Heaven. Psalm 56:8 “Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?”

I love making angels out of old, raggedy quilts. It makes me feel that I've created something new out of what was thought to be garbage -- something like what the Lord has done with ME! And this is a poem I wrote to go with them!

Photobucket

Safe with Angels

Sometimes It seems what used to be
Our fondest hopes and dreams
Disappear like falling stars,
Forever gone -- it seems.
But somehow God who knows what’s best
Finds all our falling stars,
And keeps them safe with angels dear
And stores our tears in jars.
And someday when the time is right
As only God can do,
He’ll give us back our dreams and stars,
His best for me and you.
